Brooklyn Public Library Opens Free Craft Supply Library for New Yorkers

For those curious about crafting but put off by the cost of supplies or a lack of storage space, Brooklyn Public Library's newly opened Craft Supply Library offers a practical solution. Cardholders can borrow the tools and materials they need to explore hobbies such as pottery, felt art, or printmaking without committing to a full set of equipment.

Brooklyn Public Library noted that crafting has grown into an increasingly popular pastime as more people seek out analog hobbies away from screens. The library stated that it recognises not everyone has the funds or the space required to stock up on supplies when taking up a new craft.

What you can borrow and how

Any holder of an adult library card can borrow up to three craft kits and two craft tools at one time. Available items include button makers, screen-printing kits, book-binding kits, and wood-burning pens, among others. Craft tools may be borrowed for up to one week, while kits can be kept for three weeks.

The service is entirely free of charge. Borrowers can also place holds on items in advance through the library's online catalog, making it possible to reserve specific tools or kits for collection at a convenient time.
